Nancy Josephson has worked in the design, development, and construction industry since 1980. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree from the University of Washington in 1985 and a Masters of Architecture degree from Columbia University in the City of New York in 1989. Working with architecture firms in New York City and in the Pacific Northwest have given her opportunities to develop expertise in analyzing and managing complex development projects. Nancy has a specialty in the design of educational facilities, a challenging set of building types that can involve integgrating a wide variety of program components: the design of community spaces both interior and exterior, performing arts spaces, commercial kitchens and dining areas, gymnasiums and associated training and bathing spaces, classrooms for a variety of programs (science, computers, arts, voc-tech, special education, general), administration services, security, and parking facilities. Since 2001 she has focused her work on planning and project management services for the capital projects departments of the Northshore and Bainbridge Island school districts.
Nancy has been active in working with a wide variety of collaborators to develop and promote green building and sustainability standards for educational facilites. She is a founding member of Madrona Architecture PLLC which specializes in the development of projects compatible with their environs.
Nancy's professional affiliations include her role as the 2007-2008 President of the Washington Chapter of the Council of Educational Facilities Planners International (CEFPI) and board member of the Northwest Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in Italy (NIAUSI). Stephen Day is an architect, developer and land use attorney based in Seattle. A native of Seattle, he has lived and worked in a variety of communities in the Pacific Northwest, Italy and New York. These combined professional and personal experiences provide a broad range of resources to draw upon in the development of historic landmark properties and mixed-use properties. He is a founding member of Madrona Architecture PLLC and the Real Property Law Group. His clients and collaborators include individuals, development companies, development lenders, municipalities and nonprofit developers of affordable housing.
Stephen has worked in architecture and historic preservation for over 25 years. He is currently an appointed member of the King County Landmarks Commission, Board President of the Northwest Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in Italy and past Board President of the American Institute of Architects (Seattle Chapter) Historic Preservation Committee.
