KING COUNTY LANDMARKS COMMISSION

Stephen Day is an appointed member of the King County Landmarks Commission, established by King County to ensure protection of the county’s rich array of historic and cultural resources, dating back 11,000 years to the first record of human imprint in this region. Stephen draws on his experiences in architecture, law and historic preservation to collaborate with other commissioners in the designation and protection of the County’s historic landmark properties, including architecture and historic landscapes.

Recent initiatives include obtaining Washington State funding to initiate a nationally-recognized grant program for the preservation of the hundreds of remarkable (but threatened) historic barn buildings located in King County and Washington.  For a lively article by Knute Berger on the Commission's work click here.
